The elementary years are a time when students begin to develop their academic self-concept and feelings of competence and confidence as learners. They are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as character values. It is also a time when students develop and acquire attitudes toward school, self, peers, social groups and family.
Woodland school counselors support students in furthering their social, emotional and academic development. Counselors meet with students individually and in small groups. Counselors also meet with teachers and parents to discuss achievement or any issue related to the student's school experiences. Parents are encouraged to contact their child's teacher if there are any questions or concerns regarding academic, social or emotional development.
